1. About this policy

Touring Mods Australia is operated by Astyn Tana Scott Hinkley as a sole trader, ABN 39 780 241 416 (we, us or our). We operate this pre-launch website and are developing our first rooftop tent for 4×4 and off-road touring. This policy explains how personal information is handled when you visit touringmodsaustralia.com.au or contact us.

The current website introduces the business and invites enquiries and feedback. Products are not yet for sale, and we are not accepting orders, pre-orders or deposits. The website does not offer a newsletter signup.

Contact us about privacy at info@touringmodsaustralia.com.

2. Information we collect

When you use the contact form, we collect your email address, your message and your name if you choose to provide it. If you contact us by email, telephone or post, we collect the contact details and information you provide in that communication. Correspondence may include other details you voluntarily share, such as your vehicle, rooftop-tent experience or business enquiry.

Shopify and services used to operate the website may also process technical information, including your IP address, browser and device details, referring pages and information about how you use the website.

Please do not send payment card details, identity documents, health information or other sensitive personal information through the contact form. You can browse without identifying yourself to us, although technical information may still be processed. We need a usable contact address to respond to your enquiry.

3. How we use information

We use enquiry information to respond to messages, assess customer feedback and business opportunities, and keep records reasonably needed to manage those interactions. Website information may be used to operate and improve the website, prevent misuse and spam, investigate security issues and comply with applicable legal obligations.

Sending a message does not sign you up to marketing emails. We may reply or follow up about your enquiry. We will seek permission before publishing feedback in a way that identifies you.

4. Shopify and other service providers

Our website is hosted by Shopify. Shopify processes information about your visits to provide its platform, including website delivery, contact-form handling and security. Enquiries are also processed through the email and business systems we use to manage and answer messages.

We use Google’s Gmail service to receive, store and respond to business correspondence, including enquiries sent to info@touringmodsaustralia.com. Google processes information to provide its email services. Further information is available in Google’s Privacy Policy.

Shopify Network Intelligence is enabled. Shopify uses information from interactions with our website, other merchants and Shopify to provide enhanced services. These services can include personalisation, analytics, security improvements and advertising. Information is shared with Shopify and other third parties involved in providing these services, including parties outside Australia. Shopify is responsible for certain processing for its own purposes, as explained in its privacy policy.

Other authorised providers or professional advisers may receive information reasonably needed to help operate the business. We may disclose information where required or permitted by law, or where you authorise us to do so.

Read the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy for Shopify’s handling of information. The Shopify Privacy Portal provides applicable requests and choices, including choices about Shopify’s use or sharing of information for targeted advertising.

5. Cookies, analytics and privacy choices

The website and Shopify use cookies and similar technologies for functions such as security and remembering preferences. Shopify’s platform and enabled enhanced services can also process browsing information for analytics, personalisation and advertising as described above.

At the date of this policy, no additional app or custom pixels are configured through our Shopify Customer events settings. This does not mean the website is free of cookies or that Shopify’s own data processing is disabled.

Our Shopify cookie and data-sharing controls are managed automatically according to the store’s configured regions. A separate on-site cookie banner or data-sharing opt-out page is not currently configured for our selling regions. We will review these settings as our activities and the regions we serve change.

You can manage cookies in your browser settings. Blocking or clearing cookies can affect website functions and stored preferences. Browser controls are separate from requests about information already held.

For choices about Shopify’s processing, use the Shopify Privacy Portal, including requests to opt out of Shopify’s sharing or use of information for targeted advertising, request deletion, or exercise other applicable rights. You may have rights to withdraw consent or object to certain processing, depending on the laws that apply. For information held by Touring Mods Australia, contact us using the details in section 8.

6. Storage and overseas processing

Shopify identifies the United States as our store’s current primary data-storage location. This is not a statement that all information remains only in the United States.

Information may also be accessed, stored or processed outside Australia by Shopify and other providers. Shopify publishes a list of its subprocessors describing their services and headquarters, including entities based in Canada, the United States, Ireland and Singapore. The provider list does not identify the location of every individual record.

Google’s Gmail service and other service providers may also process correspondence or technical information outside Australia. Google operates servers in multiple countries, so we do not represent that our email correspondence is stored or processed only in Australia. Contact us for further information about the providers involved in handling your enquiry. We will review and update these disclosures when the relevant arrangements change.

7. Retention and security

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably needed to handle enquiries, maintain necessary business records, resolve disputes and meet applicable obligations. When it is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete it or remove identifying details, subject to lawful retention requirements and the operation of backups.

We use reasonable measures intended to protect personal information, including limiting access to people and services that need it for their work. No website, email service or security measure can be guaranteed completely secure.

8. Requests and complaints

To ask about the information we hold, request access or correction, request deletion, or raise a privacy concern, email info@touringmodsaustralia.com. Include enough information for us to understand your request, but do not send identity documents unless we explain why a proportionate verification step is necessary.

Telephone: 0411 140 354
Email: info@touringmodsaustralia.com

We will consider your request and respond within a reasonable time, or within a period required by applicable law. Some records may need to be retained for legal or legitimate business reasons. Where we cannot fulfil a request, we will explain our response where permitted.

We will review privacy complaints and explain the outcome. Where your complaint falls within its jurisdiction, you may also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. Rights under other applicable privacy laws are not excluded by this policy.

9. Changes and third-party links

We will review this policy as the business and its website develop. If we introduce sales, subscriptions, new tracking or other material changes to information handling, we will update the policy and provide any notices or choices required by applicable law.

External websites have their own privacy practices. Review their policies before providing information to them.
